Offsite SEO and link building

SEO is Search Engine Optimization and it is all about trying to get your website ranked high by search engines and in SERP (Search Engine Result Page) so that your website can easily be found. Onsite SEO is related to things you do to your website content itself, structure and template to help get ranked high by search engines. These are generally under your own control as long as you know what to do.

Offsite SEO is related to what you can do away from your website, not all of which are under your control. For example, Google uses the number and quality of backlinks (also called inbound links) from other websites that link to your website. The rationale is as follows. If many people link to your website, it probably means that many people thinks that your website has quality and has the information they think important. So search engines, especially Google, uses the number of backlinks as votes for your website. The more links (votes) the higher the ranking.

So one very important part of SEO is link building which is to try to get as many inbound links to your website as possible.. I received an email telling me about this website which offers free link building tools and also website link exchange services which if it works would be a great help as link building is not easy.
